IPHONE AND IPAD IN THE FUTURE MAY MOVE TO INTEL CHIPS

Not so long ago we mentioned that in connection with a hard conflict with Samsung over "design kopipasta" Apple is considering the possibility of transferring rights to the release of its mobile chips A4 and A5 to another manufacturer, and as one of the possible candidates offered a corporation Intel. However, both then and now, it seems unlikely that Intel wants to produce microprocessors on foreign technologies, and even competing with its own development (chips Apple A4 and A5, we recall, are based on ARM architecture). Now, however, this theme was a curious sequel. According to Citigroup analyst Glen Young (Glen Yeung), Intel is indeed in talks with Apple to manufacture chips A4 and A5, but ultimately focused on a much broader partnership. The analyst points out that Intel is not interested in becoming only the contractual partner of Cupertino, and seeks to turn things around to move Apple to use its proprietary processors in future generations of iPhone and iPad. If the sides come to such an agreement, it can be a big blow to ARM, given the scale of procurement Apple microelectronic products, and its status as one of tastemakers in the IT industry and the world of mobile devices. And given the increasing power efficiency of Intel processors, coupled with the development of increasingly "thin" production standards on this, at least worth thinking about.
